L'Amazone Érogène - 2020
Following in the footsteps of Ai Weiwei (2016), Chiharu Shiota (2017), Leandro Erlich (2018) and Joana Vasconcelos (2019), in 2021 Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris gave Prune Nourry carte blanche to take over the department store's two glass-roofed atriums and its windows giving onto the streets.
When the artist was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, the mythological figure of the Amazon seemed an obvious choice. The double installation L’Amazone érogène (Arc et Cible) [The Erogenous Amazon (Bow and Target)], which unfolds on either side of the central escalator, also refers to the attributes of these warrior women.
