Spermbar - 2011

As an extension of the Procreative Dinners of 2009–2013, which brought together guests from the worlds of art and science to discuss the bioethical issue of the "à la carte child", Prune Nourry began looking into the sperm donation industry in the Western world. The locus was an emblematic New York food truck turned into a Spermbar and parked on 5th Avenue, opposite Central Park, on 17 September 2011. A few weeks earlier, around a hundred anonymous symbolic donors had applied online via questionnaires similar to those used by sperm banks: physical qualities, intellectual aptitudes, level of education, etc.
